I purchased this on a lightning deal with an additional coupon so I ended up paying just under $220 for it.The first one looked like it was a refurbished unit, as two of the feet were missing and it looked like it had been repackaged. But it worked well enough for the most part. I contacted the vendor and mentioned the situation to them, and they suggested I send the unit back to them, with no offer of free shipping, and then they would send a replacement. So instead I returned through Amazon and waited for the replacement to arrive. Upon receiving and turning it on, it was found to be dead on arrival. Nothing, no boot, just a blue light. I am so glad I did not return the original one first. So, I exchanged the bottom plates, and transferred the labels for the windows license and the mac address so that would match the unit I kept. I then returned the defective replacement. So now it has four feet. I am so glad that I did not send the first one back before I received the replacement computer, as I may not have been able to send replacement items back for a refund without a phone call to Amazon, and then it is at their discretion at best, and had no way of knowing what the outcome would have been in this situation. I have had this occur on other occasions. Yes, I could have found stick-on feet for it, but why should I have to.I am experiencing some issues with the keyboard and mouse looking up when using with the wireless keyboard while streaming a You Tube video. I discovered while switching from one HDMI monitor, the TV, to the AVR, which is in turn connected to the TV. This issue is described in more detail, next.So, I cannot recommend this PC for use as an HTPC. In HTPC usages the HTPC is typically one of several sources along with the cable box, DVD/Blu-ray, and streaming box. And it is typically used with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Now what happens with mine, is when I switch to another source, say to watch a DVD or a tv show on cable and then switch back to the HTPC, the keyboard and mouse are locked up. The only two ways to recover is to plug the keyboard dongle into another USB port, or to keep a wired mouse plugged in and then move it, to bring back functionality to the wireless keyboard. The biggest pro is that it is silent, which is needed for an HTPC application. However, on the con side I can't say that the build quality is all that great given the issues I experienced. Also unlike other mini PCs with fans, you can't set anything on top of it. It will get too warm. As others have said about these mini computers this is not a gaming machine. The fan in my previous mini PC, an ACEPC, proved to be too distracting. I also had trouble with the ACEPC. It had a drive failure in about 8 months of light use. But it has been fine ever since I replaced the drive in it at my expense. So my experience with these low cost mini PCs has not been particularly good. If I ever purchase another mini PC it will more than likely be a name brand PC. You might be better off just to purchase a higher quality more well known brand. Your total investment may be less in the long run.
